Professional Leadership at FISH ON! Texas Guide Service
Captain Michael Martinez brings decades of local experience and a deep-seated passion for the Texas coast to every outing with FISH ON! Texas Guide Service. Growing up with a rod in his hand, Michael has spent a lifetime studying the intricate movements of tide, wind, and bait within the Matagorda Bay system. His approach to guiding is rooted in a desire to share the rich heritage of the region while ensuring every guest feels confident on the water. By focusing on the nuances of the local ecosystem, he helps anglers understand not just where the fish are, but why they are there, creating an educational environment that goes far beyond a standard day on a boat.
Specializing in the technical aspects of inshore and flats fishing, Captain Mike is highly proficient in a wide range of methods tailored to the Texas bays. Whether he is positioning the boat for a precise drift over a productive shell reef or teaching the subtle art of popping corks in the back lakes, his versatility allows him to adapt to any conditions the Gulf Coast presents. He is particularly well-regarded for his patience and instructional style, making him a preferred choice for those looking to refine their light tackle skills or master the art of targeting redfish and speckled trout in shallow water.
Creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere is the cornerstone of Michael’s service. He understands that a successful day on the water is measured by more than just the weight of the cooler; it is about the comfort, safety, and camaraderie shared among friends and family. From assisting young anglers with their very first cast to discussing advanced strategies with veteran fishermen, Michael ensures that every person on board is fully supported. His dedication to maintaining a clean, organized, and high-functioning environment reflects his respect for both his guests and the pristine Matagorda environment he calls home.
The Majek Illusion II: Optimized for the Texas Flats
The fishing platform for these adventures is a 22-foot Majek Illusion II, a vessel specifically engineered to master the shallowest reaches of the Texas coast. Powered by a high-performance 250hp Evinrude engine and supported by a quiet Minn Kota trolling motor, this boat offers the perfect balance of speed to reach the fishing grounds and the stealth needed to sneak up on wary schools of fish. To ensure a technical advantage, the Majek is outfitted with a precision Simrad navigation system and a Power-Pole for instant anchoring in the flats. Guests also have access to premium gear, including custom Waterloo rods, Texas Rattlers, and high-quality tackle, all maintained to professional standards to ensure that every hook-up is handled with the best equipment available.
